Integrated Pipeline Project
A couple new public projects are coming to Navarro County in the coming years including the renovation to the court house and a new water pipeline being constructed by Tarrant Regional Water District and the City of Dallas.

Monday, the chamber met with Tarrant Regional Water District and the City of Dallas to discuss a large water pipeline project that will be coming through Navarro County. There will be a lot of good opportunities, but our businesses have to be prepared. If you are a disadvantaged, minority or women owned business please check out these sites to become certified. (Not sure what a disadvantaged business is – check out the sites for more details.) Not only will it help with this project, it will help with all projects operated by a public entity.

• North Texas Regional Certification Agency (NCTRCA) -
• DFW Minority Supplier Development Council -
• Women Business Council Southwest -
• Historically Utilized Business (HUB) -

Be sure to check out the Tarrant Regional Water District’s Integrated Pipeline Project (IPL) web site and sign up for the pre-screening, it is a great marketing tool for you with the prime contractors. (

In addition, there will be a networking event in the area sometime later this summer – stay tuned for more details. In the meantime for more information on the IPL project, checkout its web site at

 Retail Is Economic Development

How To Create Aggressive Recruiting Strategies In Today’s Economy
By C. Kelly Cofer, CCIM, President/CEO, The Retail Coach, LLC

Retail IS economic development and should be a component of your community’s comprehensive economic development strategy.

Your success will bring increased sales and property tax revenue; new jobs; more shopping and eating options; and reduced outflow of dollars to other communities. Retail choices also enhance your community’s quality of life, which is a component in recruiting businesses and a capable workforce.

Volunteer leaders and city staff charged with achieving these important goals have faced tremendous challenges during recent years brought on by a difficult economy. But the horizon is looking brighter for retail recruitment and expansion.

 Chamber Launches Advocacy Site

The Corsicana and Navarro County Chamber of Commerce has launched a new website: Corsicana Advocacy. The purpose of this new website is to unify and channel interests and voices of local businesses and residents in respect to local, state and federal government.

While everyone can advocate individually, a large number of voices communicating similar or resembling messages, ideas and interests are more likely to be recognized.

Through our new site you can:

  • Contact lawmakers about issues relevant to you
  • Get the latest local, state and national news
  • Read about the positions of the Corsicana COC in relation to legislative affairs that impact your business
  • Acess voter resources as well as find information on your elected officials and contact them conveniently, if you wish to do so.

The Corsicana Advocacy Site will also provide its users with additional resources and information about the upcoming 2012 elections. The according update/addition to the site will take place in a few days. This update, as well as the administrative software and general resources are provided by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. However the actual content of the Advocacy Site is provided and maintained by the Corsicana and Navarro County Chamber of Commerce.
